Graduate Certificate in Learning and Developmental Disability Assessment

The Nanyang Psychology Academy's Graduate Certificate in Applied Psychological Testing with a focus on Learning and Developmental Disabilities is a specialized program for applications in the fields of psychology, special education, business, human resources or related areas. This certificate program is designed to provide students with specific knowledge and skills related to the assessment and support of individuals with learning and developmental disabilities; additionally, learners will also learn how to prepare and evaluate psychological evaluation reports and learn to interpret and understand the key elements of the tests results and reports. 

This course will cover instruments such as the Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ), Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale–Revised (RAADS–R), Adaptive Behavioural Assessment Systems-3 (ABAS-3), WEISS Functional Impairment Scale for Adult, Barratt Impulsiveness Rating Scale for Adult, Conners Rating Scale for Children ADHD, Conners Rating Scale for Adult ADHD, the Behavioural Assessment Systems for Children-3 (BASC-3), and the Comprehensive Test of Phonological Processing-2 (CTOPP-2) among others.

Learning Outcome

  1. Understanding Assessment Principles: Gain a solid understanding of the foundational principles of psychological assessment, including reliability, validity, standardization, and norms.

  2. Familiarity with Test Instruments: Develop proficiency in using and interpreting the specific instruments in the course.

  3. Administering Tests: Learn the proper procedures for administering each of these assessments, including guidelines for test administration and scoring.

  4. Interpreting Test Results: Develop the skills to interpret test scores accurately and meaningfully, considering individual strengths and weaknesses.

  5. Psychometric Concepts: Understand psychometric concepts such as standard scores, percentiles, and age equivalents and apply them in test interpretation.

  6. Educational and Clinical Applications: Explore the various educational and clinical applications of the testing results, including their use in schools, clinical psychology, and neuropsychology.

  7. Report Writing: Develop the skills to write comprehensive and clear assessment reports, including test results, interpretations, and recommendations.
